Well it's Christmas time and ad usual the wife is at a loss on what to get me. I have a bad habit of buying myself everything I need. Well I've always wanted a laser level that will also throw a cross beam with the self leveling feature. Any particular ones I should stay away from? Mostly gonna be used indoor for pictures, shelving, curtains, tvs ect. Likes will be appreciated

I have Huepar that works and seems well built.

Green laser not worth a **** outdoor, but I have not tried a remote receiver.

I was looking at the bosch one. My wife hates that I always just buy what I need or want and never leave anything for birthdays or Christmas. I'm trying to make it easy for her this year lol

Bosch makes good self leveling three plane laser levels. Definitely look into them for construction, or shop use. In my experience, they are pretty dead on. A bit overkill for home use, but if you don’t mind the cost, may as well.

Bosch has been the prosumer go to for years. BUT Dewalt is supposedly making excellent lasers now too.

Johnson are good, so are PLS.

I have a Bosch gll2-80 dual plane self leveling laser level. I paid a lot of it back in 2010, but it is so worth it.

I'm thinking about this budget Bosch: GLL-30 for $40

https://toolguyd.com/bosch-gll30-cross-line-laser-level-deal/

Those cheaper lasers are alright for some things but the accuracy of 5/16" in 30 feet is pretty bad. Think my bosch gll380 is 1/4" in 100'. That 40 dollar one linked is about 1" in 100'. So it will he fine for your standard 15 by 15 room but it wont work good in bigger rooms. Like of you wanted to layout a basement that is 50 feet long you will he off almost 1/2 an inch which can be critical in some things.

we use them everyday installing aluminum frames and markerboards. We have found accuracy issues with the $100-200 Bosch lasers available at big box stores. Have had good success with the Dewalt lasers, I prefer the green beam but this is as cheap as I can recall: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O94W3E/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Note,I have went from this model in green to the 12volt models both cross beam and 360 degree. Only because I needed the 360/3 plane on a layout job and the cross beam had to join ,due to the 12volt cordless system. But both of those systems would be overkill /cost to benefit ratio for your anticipated uses. Accuracy isn't much different.
