Leak in air compressor pump

In one of my wiser moments I decide to change the oil in my compressor . Unfortunately I am unable to seal the pump to hold oil from seeping from the drain plug . I have tried plumbers tape and plumber’s blue goop can’t remember the name . Is there stuff I can use that will hold the seal under pressure .

There's no pressure, it's vented. Justlike an engine crankcase

as mentioned, no pressure on that , unless your breather is plugged and you have a blow-by ...
did you over-tighten the plug & crack the casting ?
That's about the only reason you can no longer get it to seal.

Might the oil drain plug be missing a copper gasket washer or a o ring?

Are you referring to a clear site glass type of plug or just a simple threaded plug?
