seems like every snap on ratchet i own or have owned, sooner or later starts to leak out the fluid near the square drive, this one in particular a 3/8 FHLFD80. its not really a nuisance, but i would rather not have the fluid leak out all over. if they are sealed, they shouldnt leak out at all right? could it be that im pushing the tool too hard or putting too much force on the pawl? anyway to stop it, it isnt old, only a few weeks old. thinking maybe the o-rings inside have gone bad.

Use grease instead of oil. And have you took the plate off before? o-ring might be out of groove.

None of mine leaks, old or new models.

Use the recommended grease and there should not be a problem. They are not intended to have oil in them for lubrication. I believe the grease used to come with the rebuild kits. The dealer probably has some laying around.

You don't want that ratchet anymore. Once they leak they never work right again. Send that puppy to me and I will dispose of it proper for you.

No Dave - given you're recent citations by the EPA for improper disposal and my excellent staff's knowledge of the right way to handle these problems, I suggest that the ratchet be sent to me...err I mean my green Obama approved recycling company.
