Leaky roof

I have a concrete tile roof that is 20 years old. It has developed a leak tha that I need to repair. I will be replacing the entire roof in the next 6 months. I was considering g just removing all the tile from that face, removing the existing felt and just putting down the rolled bituthane type underlayment. It ays on the manufacturers site that it is good for 6 months exposure. I was considering putting down the regular underlayment, but the wind seems to remove stuff like that pretty readily.

Does anyone have experience with that type of product? Any thoughts on the topic are appreciated.

After you remove the tiles, you might consider looking at your under layer of felt and then sweeping the loose material off, then brushing the surface, after taking the loose stuff off i like a thinned coat of mastic (about like paint) as the solvent evaporates I like another layer like heavy cream, followed by new felt.

Have you investigated why your roof is leaking? I thought that style of roofing was almost a forever material provided there's maintenance like any metal flashing or sealants.

The felt is shot. The concrete tile roofs are only as good as the underlayment. If they had used synthetic (20 years ago, was it even available?) then it would have lasted much longer, but with 2 layers of 15 pound felt it is supposed to be 25 year lifespan.

I once, about 35 years ago, climbed on a tile roof and glued the broken tiles back together with Silicone Caulk. The roof held until the the bank failed during the Savings and Loan Crises right after the First Gulf War.

What is the magic of 6 months to a full replacement? Weather? Is there no way to do it now, or in a month or 2 and let it leak til then?
