So many directions to take this....but I'll take the high road. I've never seen one but back when I worked on my cars that would have been great....

In my experience, much of what requires enough time to get one's back in a lurch also requires getting underneath of the vehicle. I usually just pull the vehicle up on ramps if there's any possibility of needing to get underneath, sometimes including the risk of dropping parts or fasteners through and underneath.

I don't pull up on ramps to top off fluids, but that doesn't take very long to do.

no but I have used this one

They are comfy, its a little unsettling at first laying there with your **** out like that, but when you are done and your back isnt as stiff as a board and your knees are not yelling in pain, your thankful you had it. I primarily used it on trucks, not really a need for me to use it on cars yet.

'cause that's what I thought of when I read the thread title.

Unfortunately all of our vehicles are too tall for such an instance.

Working on our F-250 with 7.3l has presented plenty of situations while working on the turbo where I've had to lay on the engine. It wasn't until I visited the Ford dealer and saw their guy on a big creeper for them to lay on that I realized how cool it would be to have...

...then I realized how little I would actually use it.

I built a platform that puts my waist at the height of the hood latch. Then I lay a couple of moving blankets down. I also made a bracket that holds a tray over the fender to hold my tools.

That's what I did, just with a couple of old blankets. Still looked like I'd been pelted with an airsoft.

With the turbo work done it will be a looong time before I have to work ON the engine again...so I didn't bother shopping for one. It would just be more stuff to have to store. :lol_hitti

OK, that looks like the dumbest thing every, but speaking as a full-time mechanic with a herniated disc in his lower back: I want one worse than a BJ from Christina Hendricks.

I have the one with the wheels on it posted above. Works nice on the Superduty changing oil and upper fuel filters. Even used it to get to the rear plugs on my 03 Lightning which isn't really high but those back plugs are pretty much under the dash. It's a pain to store but I'm glad I bought it.

I do need to get something like that. My AC cond. has a nice knee size dent from adjusting the #6 valves on my 5.9 CTD.

I have one of these. My Jeep Grand Cherokee is lifted 7" counting tires and suspension lift, so this does help, especially when trying to get to the back of the engine.

I have a topside creeper. I got it for $100 off of craigslist. You have to watch them, they can rub on the body work and bumper guards, etc.
