Lean-to addition on steel building

I have an existing steel frame building. I would like to add a lean to off the one building wall. The total dimensions will be 20'x10' off the wall.

I was just going to make the lean-to wood, but have a few questions.

Should I make it free standing, or can I go ahead and use a ledger board and tie it into the building?

The post will be 3) 6x6's on the outside.

Also on the ledger board side of things, How do I get the lean-to roof tight against the building ribbed metal?

Thank you in advance!

AF: while you are posting some pictures of your existing shop i'll try to recall and post up several links of others that have added lien to's on the sides of their shops. i don't see a reason to not use the existing wall supports to hold up the one side and there are several ways to build it.

do you need to get a permit and engineering so you don't void your homeowner's insurance? might be worth checking on cause if you have an accident and it wasn't permitted and should have been there might not be coverage for damages.

good luck

do a search there are multiple threads on this.

while there is a foam or wood seal that fills the gaps in the siding available, best is to remove siding, install ledger, flash and trim around it just like a deck ledger on a house.
