Lean to for compressor

Finally have got the compressor hooked up & running in my 16 x 22 VW garage. It is a Campbell Hausfield 60 gal. comp. that seems quite loud to me. I am thinking that I should pour a pad and build a room / lean to to house the compressor but am not sure of the size or if I should attach the lean to to the gar or just have it free standing. The gar has vinyl siding; the compressor is an upright 60 gal CH and it is still attached to the wood base/pallet that it came on (I inherited it from my dad when he died and he had left it on the wood base).
Any and all suggestions, questions and plans would / will be appreciated.

You can put it outside and under a roof. It will be fine. Keep in mind that it will probably produce more moisture in your lines. Another thing is the temperature. If you live where it gets under 32 degrees, you will need to change oil to a lighter weight in the winter months and back to a heavier weight in summer. Keep the tank drained often. There are other ways to quiet a compressor too. Some on here will tell you to buy a Leroi or solberg filter assembly and rig that up to the pump. Another option is to run the intake filter outside. If you opt for this method, you must swell the intake pipe up to double its size every 24 inches to prevent starving the pump.

I had a enclosure built for mine w/ a concrete pad. It is 5' deep x 5' wide x 8' tall. It is larger then it needs to be but I wanted it to be oversize so I could have accesss all the way around the compressor in case any work needed to be performed on it. I also put in ventilation system in which consists of a basic wall vent (with a low restriction filter) and a ceiling vent fan (220 cfm unit).

Is this building attached to your garage or detached from your garage. I know it is beside the garage but is it attached?

My plan is to build one out of wood and use garage door seals to seal it up against the steel building. It will be 3' wide and 2' deep. just big enough to hold my 3.7 HP Koblet compressor. It will be insulates and have a labyrinth vented top. Top will be bigger and sides of the top will an hang over the sides of the main structure with ~ 4" space and overlap. I will be using an automatic drain.
