Lean To Question

I am about to begin building a lean to behind my shop. Actually, it will be a stand alone structure as I didn't want to put the extra weight on my back wall. Dimensions will be 54'x20' deep. Height will be 15' sloping down to 13'.

My question is about the gauge and anchoring of posts. The steel company has recommended 4x4 steel tubing (14 gauge) welded to 8x8" base plates which will be anchored to individual footings (no full slab, just putting gravel for parking boat). Are these posts strong enough? The top will just be 8" channel for outer edges and purlins and sheets of 26 gauge galvalume...very basic. There will be 8 posts total, 4 for each 54' run.

Opinions and suggestions welcome. I do not need to pull a permit for this structure but also don't want it to collapse.

I have seen that kind of thing done with 4x4 wood posts.
I would expect the steel to be a lot stronger.
The question will be the span between the posts supporting the roof.

Just curious -- why wouldn't you use treated wood posts like standard pole barn construction? Do you prefer a steel building?

In louisiana. Was trying to avoid the 6x6 treated posts just due to hassle of setting them and also since the rest of the structure is steel.

Edit.....would 4x6 treated posts be a good idea?
