Learning how to weld, recycling, and engineering a welding cart.

I am learning how to weld and decided to recycle and fab up a unique cart. It is made from an old rolling tool chest, legs from a bbq, angle from a bed frame and misc. round/flat stock. My welds started to look really well towards the end when fabbing up the welder "cradle". Next step is to perform some body work and paint. All of this is practice for my camaro. You can also see my plasma cutter which I got from HF after a coupon error.

it looks kinda top heavy. other than that, looks good. how come u have 3 4" grinders? be careful w/ those, look like they have 'click on' power switches. if they catch on something they can take off. maybe wrap up in your t shirt and dig up your stomach while u try to unplug it. ask me how i know...

One for each hand with a spare just incase...

I have 2 4-1/2", 1 4", and 1 7"sander/polisher. I have them setup for a grinding wheel, cutoff wheel, and knurled brush.

It is a little top heavy but with be better balanced when I put the proper casters on.

Good job and keep going for it. I used to recycle all the time. Now, I cant stand too much junk lying around. By the looks of things, you are figuring out what you need. Necessity is the mother of invention. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Not to derail, but how do you like that plasma? I had an offer of one, but turned it down.

As for stability, a couple of weight plates in the bottom of the toolbox and she'll be stable as the Titanic.

New wheels to come. I have been a little busy this week with a bathroom remodel.

I have not used the plasma yet. I don't have a 220v outlet in the garage. I got it from HF for $20 after a coupon problem.

yep.... i have a different wheel on each. grinder, cutoff wheel, wire wheel, and flap disc.

On a more "on topic" kinda thing... It will look a thousand times better once you color match the whole thing

Looks great. Now just build an add on for a shielding gas bottle. Wait till you weld with real wire and gas. Your gonna love it..

It was a dump...Then it got cleaner. But it's slowly sliding back the deathtrap obstacle course of old

Although now that the house nonsese is slowing down, I need to make a day to clean it out.again
