Learning to spray auto paint

Any tips, tricks, or youtube videos you guys can recommend? I picked up a Sata 3000B at a pawn shop yesterday for $140. Buddy of mine says I got a pretty good deal. Going to be using it to spray a 1969 F100 in the future.

The spraying is easy - just keep moving at a constant distance from the object.

The hard part is prep. Without the prep, even the best paint in the world will be full of fisheyes and spots of poor adhesion.

Prep, prep, prep......then prep some more......

And test/practice panels. Also, whatever brand of paint you go with, get their tech sheets. Found that to be invaluable information when shooting mine(also as a first timer).

The color is easy as long as it isnt pearl or metallic. Clear is a little harder to get to lay flat. You want to put it on wet enough to flow out but not so wet you get saggs or runs. Get some junk yard fenders and hoods and practice a little and you will get a feel for it

Spraying is just like anything else. You get better as you practice. Also keep in mind that certain paints spray differently than others. Acrylic enamels spray alot different from urethane paints. If you didn't know that you would have runs out the a#s if you were used to spraying urethane and decided to try enamel, but incorporated the same technique.

Like the others said prep is key. Laying down the paint will act like a map showing all the mistakes you did in prepping it if not done correctly.
