I have an old leather apron. I have washed all the dirt out of it and the leather is still in good condition. I have no use for it. I am thinking of cutting it up and stitch myself a tool roll. Should I be worrying about the chemical from the leather corroding the chromes on my tools? Would nylon be a better material.

I wouldn't think so, I store my wrenches, some sockets and a couple of ratchets in a leather tool pouch (the kind that goes around the waist with a belt) and haven't had any issues with the chrome.
