I love the looks of the Vaughan and Estwing leather handled hammers. However, they feel a little slick in the hand. I wondered if anyone has done any modification to handles to decrease the slickness. First thought was to just rough the surface with some sand paper, but thought it might look bad. Second thought was to just remove the lacquer coating and go to bare leather. With some care and very little leather treatment I think it would still last a life time and look good. Thinking along the lines of a Ka-bar handle. They don't have any coating on them.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery on this? :dunno:
