Leatherman Tool

I received this as a gift from a neighbor / friend. After we had a hurricane hit our area he stayed for a few days until he got his home heated. He had given it to me when he loaned me his several time a day while we were repairing stuff in his home. I left it in a desk drawer for the last few years.

I started wearing it last week and now find I use it many times a day. It's become so useful to me that this weekend I did not strap it on my belt and yet I kept reaching for it over and over.

I'm not overly handy but this thing is just incredible. I now need to find a holster that clips on a belt not slips onto a belt for it.

I just wanted to let anyone looking for a great tool know this is working well for me.

Many years ago, work had me traveling away from home alot. I spent weeks or months at a time away from home. Sometimes I'd wish that I had a small tool set to fix things in hotel rooms or vehicles I was using. Traveling with too many tools wasn't practical because I just couldn't carry too much of anything. However, I did have an empty pocket in a backpack that I always had with me. Into that pocket went two multitools, two multi-blade screwdrivers, a tiny can of WD-40, Swiss Army Knife, tube of vaseline and band aids. You would be shocked at how many times those few things got me or someone else going again. Not sure why I started carrying multiples of the tools but it really has worked out better than having just one of something. I don't really travel for work anymore as I plan to retire soon and I prefer to let the younger guys take the trips but all of my vehicles have similar tool kits in them. Yeah, multi tools are great.

I use to carry a gerber multiplier, which is their version of a Leatherman. I also picked up a Leatherman somewhere along the line. I keep one of them in my pack I keep my hunting gear in.
Once I started working in a shop I quit carrying it. I always have a pocket screwdriver in my shirt pocket, and I carry tiny snap on channel locks in my pocket and a set of 6 or 7" Knipex Cobras in my pocket. I carry the little snap ons everywhere I go outside of work unless I know I'm going to go through a metal detector.

Yes and thank you. Mine came with this clip. The issue is the leatherman tool will destroy my car seat if I expose it to the leather. I need to keep it in the nylon holster. I'd love to cut the look and figure out a Velcro attachment for the loop that was secure.

IMHO, Leatherman are the best multi-tool you can buy. The Charge AL looks identical to the all stainless Wave.

I just bought a Super tool 300. It is AWESOME. It weights a ton, but it is great.

The Charge and the wave are similar. The charge TTi has a cutting hook and a crimper, which by the way the crimper in the pliers head is useless. The charge ALX doesn't have the scissors that eh charge TTi has.

The wave has scissors, no cutting hook, and no crimper on the plier head. I think that is the best mix of tools of the three tools. I have a charge TTi.

I also have two leatherman Juice S2's, not the new model, the better older model. I have a super tool 300, and rebar. The Juice's are a great EDC multi tool, the Charge comes with when I need something more, the ST300 is a good hard use MT if I know I need some tools or if I'm car camping. The Rebar goes kayak camping and backpacking.

I carried a Leatherman for years, then I got my mitts on an SOG on clearance.

The SOG is much higher quality in every way (except for the stupid side shields that pop off every time you use it -- most users just toss 'em). For example, the file is an actual hardened file, not a bit of soft stainless with lines in it. The screwdriver tips actually work (a surprising number of multis and Swiss army knives have extremely poor screwdriver tips), the knife is a much better grade of stainless steel that takes an edge and stays sharp, the tools all lock, and the pliers are flawlessly mated and properly face hardened. The gearing of the pliers takes a little getting used to, but it makes them a lot more capable.

However, SOG only has a few models, and they're big and heavy. Leatherman seems to have a tool for every pocket and task and some really nice designs. And the tool quality on the high end stuff is getting pretty close.

I've never liked any of the Gerber multis, but they have their fans.

Been carrying some form of multitool for 15+ years, and sorta collect them. Bucktool 360, Kershaw A100, SOG PowerPlier, SOG Paratool, L/M Sidekick, Wave, Surge and Crunch. Too many Victorinox knives to list.
The Surge is my EDC workhorse, Sidekick or Wave for going out, but I never go out without one.
Passed up an absolutely perfect SuperTool 300 yesterday, for $30 at a pawnshop, and been regretting it. Might have to go back.

Been carrying a wave for a year now at work don't know how I lived without it. I tried a Gerber dime while not at work but it was a pos. Thinking about one of the smaller leatherman for my key chain.

Been carrying one Leatherman or another for 20+ years since my uncle gave me my first one as a Bday gift, for the last 6 years or so the Surge has been my EDC. Got the bit assortment with my first Surge and I haven't run across a screw I couldn't get out. While they are not the perfect tool for every job they are the perfect tool when it is the only thing available.

I also EDC a Leatherman Micro, tried it on my keys at first but was hard to use like that so now it goes in my pocket. The tweezers are the most used, followed by the nail cleaner and nail file.

I gave used 300's to each of my kids.

you dont need to wear that on your belt.. i wear mine EVERYDAY on the inside of my front pocket with the belt clip facing out... its the same size as a pocket knife, you dont even know its there.

I wear slacks and wonder if it would be comfortable.

you dont need to wear that on your belt.. i wear mine EVERYDAY on the inside of my front pocket with the belt clip facing out... its the same size as a pocket knife, you dont even know its there.

i wear jeans, cant comment on slacks.. but if the seats in your car are a real concern you can always get a leather pouch to keep it in instead.. at least its a little dressier than a nylon one. i tried the pouch thing and hated it though.. mine is in my pocket everyday.

I found that the edges of the leatherman wore holes in lighter duty pants. No issues with comfort if you don't mind the pants wearing out quick.

I LOVE Leatherman tools! I keep my old faithful Super Tool in my car.

When I got married, I gave each of my groomsmen a Crunch. They were a very well-received gift! I wasn't sure how well the locking pliers would work as part of a multi-tool. They're no joke!

My nylon case is not an issue. It's the loop. I need to find a case that I can easily put on / remove from my belt without unbuckling my belt.

Look into tek-lok. Rivet one of those onto your case of choice.
