I have a 30x30 building that currently has 12 fixtures in the ceiling and have 8 more to add. Debating on just mounting them to the outside Perlins on each side or possibly mounting sideways kinda like what you see in a paint booth. Has anyone done this in a steel metal building? Anyone have pictures?

Thanks

The bulk of the light coming out of a fixture is roughly 120 degrees downward. If you mount them sideways, you waste alot of light that could be more effectively used. Car painters, detailers, etc use wall mounted lights to help them see the side and the inside of the car.
Unless you think it looks cool in your space, it's not the most effective use.
Good luck,
