Been checking out for "Good" LED's for the new garage and found that Sam's club has had a 4' LED model for about $35.00/unit. These are the Honeywell brand w/42 watts--4500 Lumens--50000K life span white in color 5000 (Daylight) lumens per watt efficacy 80. The main problem I am concerned about is that these were not Linkable so would require a lot of extra wiring cost as I will need three banks/switches. Long story short I went there today and found that they are closing these out and have new replacements that are the same light with the linkable cord (5') or the 2" short **** connector for flush mount! I believe that they could be flush mounted to the floor joist/ceiling with 2 screws in lieu of the chain method. The price is the same $35.00 and they are closing out the single units for $15.00 each!!! Don't know if one could find the **** connectors on line for cheeep, but maybe there is another way to connect them daisy chain style and save some coin????? Say $15.00 savings per unit for your toll?? They really give off a lot of light--five year guarantee. I was really interested in buying 8' units, however anything close in price would be $200 each and finding them is hard to do. Just my two cents worth as many members have been searching as I have.......Good luck:willy_nil

Cool. How do you flush mount it? Are there predrilled holes? This might be the ticket for my new garage.
Thanks for sharing.

I will attempt to take the end cap/s off tomorrow to see what is inside the rail that seperates the two led strips and their covering tubes to check how much clearance so one would not damage a wire/connector when using a drive screw to secure the unit to the ceiling joist. They are very light construction and made from aluminum. Will shoot some more pictures and advise more tomorrow.

UPDATE On LED's

Looked at opening up the LED's in question and decided against as the screws came out and tabs moved over for seperation-however the small 3 pronged female plug did not want to seperate. Plan B called the Honeywell toll free # and spoke to a tech. and informed him that I wanted to surface mount same--they advised that the reason I could not open the end for a view was because the female electrical fitting is basically a press fit so you risk complete failure if you break it loose! Also advised that you would forfit the guarantee if you mount them flush with any type of screw/fastner!
Sort of did a retake in the mind and figured that I can try to come up with a metal/plastic or???/ "T" or "I" shaped configeration to place between the ends of two lights that the end caps can be slid into and place the fastner into that bracket so we don't wreck the guarantee! They are very light so it should not take much to hold them into alignment-thinking a 3/4" or 1" screw x 2 in the bracket would do??? The ends are 2.75"x5.75"W so one could use just like pre punched plumber's strapping or even light guage drywall corner material-bent with two 90's & painted white??? Anybody out there know of any other materials like plastic extrusion??? Just trying to get some good ideas!!! LMK:bowdown::3gears::thumbup:

I bought a couple of these a few weeks ago when the went on sale. Pretty nice lights, but one showed up completely mangled from shipping. Luckily they had it in store, so I was able to exchange it without too much hassle.

The Costco FEIT fixture might be a better choice.........often on sale for $20.00,factory linkable, power cord out the end ( not the top), frosted tube, able to surface mount:3gears:

I went with the Optilumen retrofit kits! You wouldn't even need a fixture if you have a metal spot to mount them to. The driver AND LED light strips have a magnetic backing on them. The electric supply store in town has them for $69 a set (81/set on Amazon). Takes the place of 4-4' bulbs. Cuts the energy consumption by more than half and produces much more light.
AND NO I am not affiliated in any way; just passing on info as to what I see as a value to the forum members.
