LED bulbs

I just installed 4 LED 60 watt equivalent bulbs in my outside wall lamps. now when I turn them off the bulb in one of the lamps glows, what's with this? a couple of guys I work with have the same thing going on.

We didn't have them glow, ours blinked.
Need to make sure your light switch is LED compatible.

Do you have a lighted switch or timer controlling the light?

Wild guess they are on a photo cell switch............

There on a regular on - off switch and no photo cell.

If you put one incandescent bulb in, I bet the issue will go away.

I'm guessing your getting induced voltage on that line due to other wiring running in parallel.

LED's have a much lower current draw so it's easy for them to have this issue.

This is one of the reasons your starting to see a lot more low voltage DC lighting.

LOL, this is the way my garage lights are hooked up. I have several LED puck lights installed under my lift, and an incandescent light on the ceiling on a motion sensor light switch. Tried replacing the bulb with an LED and everything started blinking. Whenever the bulb burns out, the LEDs blink.

I had a similar issue in a car dome light. It would automatically dim off after you shut the doors. When I put the LED in, it would dim and then flash like crazy for a second right at the end of the dim cycle.
I put a resistor in line with the LED module and the flashing stopped but the dim still worked correctly.

Not sure if its possible to do on a 120VAC circuit, but a resistor might be just enough to stop the glowing.

brian, when I turn them off last night 3 went fully off but one stayed on just glowing. when I got up this morning it was still glowing .

Leds are weird. I put 2 x 100 watt equivalent to light my drove up. On a night time and photo sensor. They would flicker at full bright and be fine at dim. If I put an incadescent on one side it worked fine.

I changed the whole sensor out and the problem went away. Only thing I can think of was sensor was old and had issues with the led lights.

I thought I was seeing things when I thought the LED can light in the bathroom looked lilke it was glowing. Ok thank you for saving my sanity GJ.

I would say inductive voltage being transferred from a line that is right by that run. I bet if you checked the voltage right at that fixture you would register something on the volt meter. My LEDs glow for a few minutes after being shut off but never stay on. I have 4 right now on a photo eye motion sensor and have no issues with them.
