GJ,

I am thinking about giving these a try and wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with this style of light. I have a 700 sq ft garage and 6 single bulb fixtures. I know that I could easily change them out but I thought this might be worth a shot.

Let me know what you guys think. Am I crazy? :willy_nil

Thanks for the help,

Joey D.

The glare from those will be super annoying and the light from the individual LEDs comes out the sides instead of downward. Without diffusers it seems really inefficient.
You could screw in adapters and plug in LED tubular shop lights without much work. Current code requires GFCI on garage receptacles.

I have one. I purchased it for an odd 24 inch direct reflector floor lamp.
35 bucks +- at HD. A 300 watt equivalent, Sylvania or some name brand, I don't remember the lumens, daylight brightness.

I'm not impressed in the slightest.
An odd, shadowy dim light, too bright to look in its general direction.
Think overcast day, on dry pavement, looking deep under a car hood. Adequate maybe... Still makes you pissy....

I leave it on in a shop, and when you walk in, you don't realize a light is on. It just doesn't illuminate (I don't know how. Maybe like the 60+- LED's on a hf rope look bright, but yet won't cast usable light on your hand?)

I can't explain it, but it casts the oddest light.

I have to guess a thousand real candles in a room is probably nothing like a thousand candle power bulb....

Buy ONE and see if you like it.
I did... I don't....

I've never been a fan of light bulbs over 10W without a large diffuser.

4' tubes, LED or florescent, are popular for a reason. Its really the best way to get a usable light without dazzling you every time you glance at the ceiling.

I second the idea of converting the Edison screw sockets into plugs and using plug in 4' LED fixtures.

Agree with above.

One other point- that 6500K 'spec'. (If you believe any of the Chinese/no-name **** that is specd these days) That will be rather harsh, IMO. Wonder what the CRI is? (Color Rendering Index) Oh, wait...not specd. But it does have a 'long life' (no spec) and 'good quality' (aviation aluminum)....

All valid points! Thanks for the feedback guys.

Looks like I'm mounting tubes on the ceiling this weekend.

Cheers
