LED Dash Lights

I'm want to replace the incandescent bulbs in my jeep dash with LED's.

Plenty of sources....color is not an issue....it's the size. I'm replacing the old 1895 type bulbs.....from the selections I'm seeing I have a choice of 1 LED or 4 LED bulbs.

Best I can tell....the 1 LED might not be quite as bright as I want....where as 4 LED's might be brighter than I want.....but then again...I will have more range control with the dash light dimmer....

Anyone have direct experience?

Contact Super Bright LEDs and ask their advice... I've used their products and they are (when I used 'em) excellent, and I'm sure that a single high output LED will do the trick. You will need a dropping resistor if one is not built into the light, and it is likely you can get drop in lights for many applications.

I have bought from Super Bright LEDs and had no problems. I replaced my wife's dash lights in a Saturn. I tried the "regular" and they would have been ok for me, but I got some of the "high output" versions for her. They are somewhat brighter and the dimmer still works as it should.

I believe the plug in (socketed) led's should have built in resistors- SuperBrightLEDs has a lot of info for their products.

Watsons Street Works make small LED's to use for something like that. I have found them very good. http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/

One thing to watch out for is the direction the LED will shine the light. Most are straight out and thus would not light the gauge faces very well. Here is a kit for early Mustangs that use the same 1895 bulbs you have, LED Kit

I bought flexible LED strips and placed them in the gauges. that more then enough light and spread it more evenly so you didn't have problems with dark spots.
