LED failure

So what’s going on here?

About a year ago I installed two LED fixtures on the eaves of the house. I think they were Sylvania brand. They’re spot light can style, one piece fixtures, with LED and decorative ring combined. I’ve been running them 24-7.

Now, every couple hours they “turn off”, one at a time. Thought that they burned out. But if I toggle the light switch they come back on for a while for a couple hours or so and and the cycle repeats.

Is something over heating ? They were a pain to install in the eaves and I expected them to last a few years, now disappointment and a mystery.

Sounds like the thermal protector is triggering. Location in your profile would help. Are you located in a warm/hot environment? Is the fixture installed with insulation behind it? If yes, is the fixture rated IC (for insulation contact)? Link to exact fixture purchased required.

Are they actually out door rated lights ?Also leaving lights on 24/7 is a huge waste. Even LEDs.

Not all LED or CFL are rated for enclosed fixtures.

To expand on this - LEDs hate hot temperatures = leaving LED lights ON during a hot sunny day is a great way to guarantee premature failure.
