The halogen motion light that lights up my driveway has died once again, this time the lens fell off and rain has done no favors to the bulb holder.

I would like to replace it with something better, the LED versions are pretty attractive due to low power consumption and no bulbs that always seem to burn out when you need it most.

Motion sensor on the currant one is crappy as well, I would like one that will turn on reliably, right now I can pull in with my crewcab pickup and it won't come on but a half hour later a stray cat turns it on.

Whats decent and what should I avoid?

I've owned quite a lot of motion sensors, and none of them have been what I would call reliable. They false trigger on a leaf blowing past on a windy night, but miss a semi truck right under them.
Mine have all been sent to the landfill and replaced with florescent dusk-to-dawn lights. I've been running them now for 9 years and love them. They just work, unlike the motion sensor lights I owned.

I just bought a new Dual Head Motion Sensor light for our new house backyard that had no light at all. My electrician friend told me to get a Rab sensor so I bought a Rab Super Stealth 360 fixture and the sensor seems to be pretty darn good and I have used a bunch of different makers in the past. Fixture cost $99 on Amazon and I am pleased with it so far.

I am looking at purchasing an LED area light too. I am looking at two brands: Crosstour and Atlas. Both are "LED Wallpacks". The ones that I am looking at are about $300. One is a 50W and one is an 84W. They both have the motion sensor, but with the low amount of energy that they take, I will probably just use the dusk-to-dawn control.

You might also check to see if your PUD has any available rebates for replacing with LED's.

I have an outdoor fixture in which the sensor no longer triggers. It's constant on. I bought LED bulbs at Costco and leave them on at night. They don't get hot and draw very little and replaced 2, 150 watt halogens with something like 15-20 watts apiece. They would work for sensors also.
