LED Flood Lights

With 12' high ceilings has anyone used 50W LED flood lights instead of strip lighting? I found a deal on 10 and 50 watt LED floods. The area is a 30x50x12 and I was looking at putting 3 rows of lights in and having 5 4' strips on each. However I found the floods for a lot less than the strip LEDs. I was thinking of using 6 of the 50W per row.

Any thoughts on this? I have never used LED floods for anything.

When you say LED floods, do you mean screw in bulbs, or those awful cheap Chinese square flood lights with no lens and no diffuser?

I deal with lots of different LED flood light doing Trade Show electric work and I can tell you that they vary a lot for light color and distance they will light up. They make some really great floods that work really well for short distances such as 4' to 8' from the surface they want to light up. It's really more about lense tech and reflector shape if you want to throw light farther. I am using track on my 14' high garage ceiling and have lots of LED flood and narrow beam lights to experiment with before I decide which style I will buy more of. I will probably end up with a combo of light types. 12' is not really that high unless you really need a lot of light at the floor level. You might try to just buy and try one to see if it meets your needs. The industry is moving more towards LED lights that have non replaceable bulbs. Recently did the Home Depot show and they have lots of new LED lights on the way.

I have a screw-in flood outside, angled out about 12' high, mounted to the house.

It's 35w (i think) Lights the area up pretty good. Don't know how they would work inside.

they were around $3 each at menards. You could pick up a couple and test them.
