I have 3 pots with some really nice succulents, that have done real well outside over the summer.

Never had good luck storing them in the basement, discovering that they need light while stored.

Anyone use reasonable priced LED grow lights, if so do you run them on a timer?

Thanks

I have these two from Menards. They have a built-in timer.
SKU: 347-0098
SKU: 348-7305
They work well but once in a while the built-in timer has to be manually reset. Likely due to someone (wife) accidentally turning the switched outlet off.
We won't know for sure until the hibiscus plant makes it through the winter in the basement.

For the last 10 years or so I've been using regular daylight rated LED tubes sold as replacements for 4' fluorescents in my plant lights that I use when starting seedlings for the garden every spring. They are on a cheap plug-in wall timer. I usually have a few pepper and other plants also, and these LEDs seem to doing okay keeping them alive and healthy through the winter. I never bothered with special "plant lights".
