What is the ceiling height? I think you could get a light that is more efficient, in more lumens output and less operating cost than a metal halide. I have been looking at LED lights, just have not made any decision yet.

It will be 10' eve height. I would guess that the distance from the fixture to floor would be around 16' or so

Unless otherwise stated in the manufacturer's literature:
High Bay = 20 ft minimum from floor to fixture face.
Low Bay = 25 ft maximum from floor to fixture face.
Standard fixtures = 16 ft maximum from floor to fixture face.

I think you are going to have too narrow of a light beam with those lights. You should really check out the new T5ho or go with T8s. Running 1 row of lights down the center is probably not the best idea either.

WE all use T5' s in our hangars around here. 14' tall , hung 2' down on chains or just hard mount them. I love mine and at 63 years old I need the light.

I have worked in many shops with Metal Halide lights. They ****. Slow to come on. Light fades as they get old. The shop I currently work in has been replacing them with T5's as they go bad. We just got a LED direct replacement bulb for the Halide fixture that we haven't tried out yet.
