I am renovating my garage. I have racedeck tiles coming Thursday. I have already started the install of the fasttrack and adding more of it. I installed a TV.

Now, I want to add LED / L.E.D. lights in the garage. I have done a search but did not come up with any threats about others putting such lights in the garage. If you have, can you chime in and tell me what brand / where you got your LED / L.E.D. lights?

Also, I came across a Mr. Garage Lights (http://mrgaragelights.com/). Anybody have experience with these lights?

Search this site. You'll find that Its a waste of money for a limited use space. It has been discussed lots of times...

If you want the cool factor, then have at it. Use Cree CR6's and lots of them or Cree LR6 DR-1000 units...

Look up LED strip lights. They are a string of LED mounted to a flexible circuit backing. Many of the companies that are selling you light fixtures that are LED are just buying those and putting them into their fixture.
You can get a roll that has 50 or 100 ft for relatively cheap, buy the drivers from them and either just stick them to the ceiling as is, stick them into an aluminum U channel to make them look like a fixture or even mount them to something and then put a light diffuser or cover over them.
A couple hundred dollars and a little time will give you a ton of light in your garage

Redbird LED's have a LED lamp that will fit in the existing fixtures hanging in most garages. They come in 2', 3', 4', 5', and 6ft lengths. Installation is pretty simple... open the fixture, find the ballast, and throw it away!! The neutral wire connects to one socket, and the hot wire is connected to the other socket. The power supply for the new lamp is inside the lamp. Are they bright? You betcha!! Are they cheap? Heck NO!!! They cost around $88.00 each. But I think they are easier on the wallet than buying a whole new fixture.

I came across this product (http://www.ledtubelights.info/). "Plug and play" LED replacement, no need to remove any ballast.

Isn't the whole point of removing the ballasts to increase the fixture efficiency a bit?

The ballast converts up, then the LED tube supply just converts it back down again. Efficiency loss.

So does anybody have a comparison and or photos leds vs fluorescent lights in a typical garage?
I've looked at the high bay fixtures and the ceilings in the garage we are building will be 17' at the peak and 11' at perimeter.
The lights look cool, but I want a lot of good white light and hate fluorescents because the light quality decays pretty quickly in a dirty environment.
