LED lighting recommendations

I just bought a new to me house - circa 1955.
It has a great 23 foot wide and 49 foot long unfinished garage/shop. It's a four car garage - 1 door - so the orientation is long and narrow. It will be used for a variety of automotive, motorcycle, and wood working projects.

I will start wiring the garage in 2 weeks. I know very little about lighting so I'd love some input.

I was planning to run two rows of 4 or 8 ft LED lights. I have two questions - do you guys have any specific light recommendations? The second question is how do I determine how far apart to space the lights?

It's been a few years since I've posted. I learned a lot here setting up my last garage I'm very excited to start a new one!

If you have a Costco nearby, their LED shop lights are decent for the price point. I have some in my much smaller garage that light it up nicely.

For the other questions, I'll defer to others.

Thanks - yeah I've seen them mentioned in other threads. We have a SAMs but I think the nearest Cosco is 4+ hours away.

Plus one on the Costco lights. I have 16 of them in my 30x34 and have them switched in quadrants.18 mos. in, all good. Also, I had a problem with one and took it back to Costco with no issues.

LEDs were too expensive when I put the fluorescents in my shop, but I ran them in two continuous rows the length of the shop. I did bother to include an extra switch wire so I can light up every other fixture if desired, and it is very seldom that I only switch on half of them. Most of the time it is all lights on.

Maybe as the tubes and ballasts go bad, I'll put in long life LEDs.

The lights I linked were $80 a pair. It would be about $640 before tax.

I did my garage with these. Pretty sure these are the ones most frequently recommended in the sticky.

I actually prefer the Honeywell 4 footers that Sam's has been selling here.

Better light IMHO, brighter, slightly better color temperature, better distribution.

Naturally, they cost more, look for a sale. ;)

If you are adventurous, they have them in 6' and 8' respectively, online.

Worst case, buy two, move them around until you achieve lighting you like and scale off that.
