They didn't even bother to list how many lumens the lights put out, so it's pretty difficult to say how many would be required. Cheap is not always the way to go on light fixtures.

The target for my workshop was 70 lumens per sf. Based on the size of your shop, you would need 22 of these fixtures to hit that target. If you don't need that much light, you can adjust accordingly. I'll be installing 12 fixtures in my 1050 sf shop, similar to the fixture you're looking at.

7000 Lumens @ 84 Watts = 83 Lumens/Watt. That's very poor efficiency. I see why they're being discontinued.

OK for 8-12ft mounting height - depending on reflectivity and purpose of space. 7000 lumens is too Low for 15ft if you want to work in there, unless you install a ridiculous amount of them. Could be fine for a storage space.

Play with the Visual Tool https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6721429#post6721429

Here's a direct link with a similar lumen output fixture preloaded: http://www.visual-3d.com/tools/PhotometricViewer/default.aspx?id=217915

You cant use lumens per square foot as a measure of lighting levels. It doesn't work that way.

I bought two of those lights about six months ago just to see how they worked. One of them doesn't come on about one in 20 times of turning the lights on. The center section of the other doesn't work at all.

I would recommend getting something else.

I recently got 20 ST48232-LED fixtures along with 2200 lumen 5000k LED tubes for them. I got 4 of the fixtures wired up today in a smaller area and am very impressed with the results. Total cost was about $30 per fixture including two tubes and shipping, though prices are slightly lower now than when I ordered. From seeing these 4 today I think I'll be very happy with the other 16 in the larger area. I wanted to go with regular direct wire tube fixtures so I could mount them in continuous rows and only replace tubes when they fail.

These fixtures are for sale locally. Is it worth it to buy these (19 of them for $90) and convert to led?

I bought 6 likable menards branded(smart electrician) led lights on closeout 2 years ago, all 6 died within the first year... I bought led lights from lowes and amazon after that, not a single failure so far(3 years).
