Hello Guys,

I am already look trought al those fantastic Garages you have :).
Finally I am updating my own one. (located in Belgium - 650 squarre foot)
(new roof, new flooring, new windows, new electrics)
Goal having a brand new and "dry" motorcycle workshop.

Now my question.
I would like to change the lightning.
Today There are 4 armatures with each a pair of 36W fluorescent bulbs.

I was wondering to update those with led onces.
Therefore I have been looking by our "Chinese" collegues and I found something like this :

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2015-New-hot-sale-HNTD41-80W-24-220V-LED-metal-Waterproof-explosion-proof-lamp-Led-Lamp/125794_32308151977.html

I know these "explosion" proof ones may be a little overkill :p

In this way some Questions raised :)

How many "lumens" do I need ?
What about the light color?
ect...

I hope you experienced workshop builders can help me further

Greets

To call a fixture "explosion proof" without any supporting documentation, independent test reports, or approvals is not only shady, but dangerous. This fixture most definitely is NOT explosion proof and thus all the other claims are doubtful. Plus this thing is expensive. You can do much better than this.

You put two of those LEDs from Sams end to end and you get the same thing as the aliexpress link, but for $78. And mine didn't explode when I plugged it in, so it meets that criteria too. ;)

The OP is from Belgium, I doubt that they have such obnoxious behemouth's like Sam's Club there. There are lighting calculators around on the internet, even some of the manfacturers have them on there websites.

And there are many very long running lighting threads on this site, if you spend a few minutes searching or browsing some threads you be able to get a good start on your research. Sorry I do not have any more links or information. But it is around here with some very knowledgeable people willing to help.
