led lites for shear ?

i have a six foot metal shear ,that i would like to put a "led" lite to see the cutting edge of the blade ! possibly a stick on type or a bolt on unit mounted somehow above the blade ? the shear is a six footer /can i find a six foot led unit anywhere ?thanks for any ideas!

12v strip lights are very cheap, cut to fit. Easy wiring. I use similar lights all over my shop.

Strip lights would be a good choice.

Regardless, set the light up so that the upper blade casts a shadow centered on the blade gap. Power shears use a baffled light box arrangement to do this with fluorescent tubes.

The resulting demarcation between light and dark is where to line up your scribe marks.
