Hi All,

This is a quick update on some lighting that I installed at my house.........

It looks like the price went up from the $104 that I paid for 2 lights...

First the down side

It comes with 6 inches of wire extending from the light. So I disassembled the light (easy) and added a length of 16/3 rubber jacketed wire. On disassembly I noted that the ground lead inside the light was not connected or a place to connect to. I drilled a hole thru the aluminum housing, installed a machine screw and grounded the light and housing.

That said......

The lights work great and put out a bright white light which illuminates and area about 100' out from the back of my house.

These had been the least expensive LED lights that I found (by a large margin), but they have to disassembled and fixed prior to installation.

I would buy them again without thinking twice....

I just bought regular LED flood bulbs for our wall switched fixtures, about $21 each at Lowes.

Sounds like light pollution to me.

Why would one want to light several acres?

I light up my whole backyard when the dogs are outside (about 150'x100') not several acres but I know if I had several acres my wife would want it lit up while the dogs were out at night.

That being said I need some of these because the halogens bulbs don't last long.

I installed a 47 watt led traditional style small wall pack on the outside of my garage from e-conolight.com Im very happy with the light output. I first tested the lights out at work before purchasing for myself. They have been up and running for 2 yrs every night for 8+/- hours. They cost 99. 00 and you can usually find coupons for 10-15% off. Free shipping over 500. Construction is all aluminum or a by product of? Unfortunately they are made overseas but I'm overall very happy and would/will buy again. The company also has other sizes, Kelvin colors, and wattages. And for the record I'm NOT employed, or affiliated with the company.

I bought some LED floodlights to replace the CFLs I had been using. They were way too bright for my situation. I didn't notice until the next morning, when leaving for work they were lighting up the whole house behind me that was 100 feet away. Being a considerate type guy, I reinstalled the CFLs, I'm waiting for spring to design some baffles to keep the light below the top of the fence line.
