Led retro

Purchased 2 cybertech double bulb LEDs to replace the old fluorescent lights. Kit came with bulbs & everything, the old light are on a 3 way switch, removed the old did the direct lighting application, only 1 of the 2 li v lights works, thre is powe to the other fixture just no light??
Do I need some type of ballast or is the wiring different?
Just took the hot & neutral wires black to black white to white, as the previous was wired. Any help is greatly appreciated

I think you needed to step back a little and .... probably look at the problem in pieces..

1) 3 way switch doesn't affect LED bulbs in any way... it just switches on/off... so verify if your Hot / neutral is all good.

2) LED Bulbs... or LED tubes... bulbs are usually refer to as the screw on (E26/E27), tubes are the long 4' T8 things...
are those ballast by pass or ballast LED T8 tubes/Bulbs... dual end powered or single end powered ones...

3) did you do a ballast install or ballast by pass ?

Sorry thought I covered most if that, removed the old did the direct lighting( isn't that the bypass?) As far as the double or single end bulb? Definitely the Tool as you say, I also said there is power to the other light just no light.
Does that mean I have the single or double bulb you speak of, happy to show you a cut sheet with specs from the Mfgr.

We removed the ceiling can lights and retrofit Home Depot LED modules.

If you did the ballast by-pass... and you have two T8 bulbs... It's easy to figure out right...

1) check and make sure you have 120Vac at the two end of the tombstone if you have the dual end power or the single end power check the two side of the tombstone... that will rule out your switches... or if you have hooked up something incorrectly..

2) make sure you got the same bulb ... some are Type-A some are Type-B or C or A+B now a days...

mark the one that is working... mark the one that is not..

Take the one that is working place it in the socket of the one that is not... and see if it lite up..


from your description it doesn't seems to be a problem with your 3 way switch if one bulb works.

Just stop and take a break, might clear up some frustration... don't over complicated it.

of cause the more info you clarify the better for others to help you... and not assume.

Post the number of the kit you installed. Are these ballast bypass. If you have one working and one not. First try swapping the tubes, If the one that did not work, now works in the other socket, check you wiring against the good side. If the one that didn't work still doesn't come on in the known good side, you possibly have a bad tube.

There is nothing wrong with your switch, you either have power or you dont

Also some ballast bypass lamps wire with the black and white on the same side and some wire with the black on one side and the white on the other.

I'm not following you what you said with taking the black to black and the white to white.
Usually you have a blue, red or yellow to the sockets, unless this kit came with prewired sockets, then it would make sense.

Look at the tombstones. On the ballast not required bulb, each bulb's main tombstone needs to have one white and one black wire. This applies only to one end of the bulb as the other end doesn't need any connection. I have run into several different brands of fixtures doing my lights and ran into tombstones with two whites or two black. So each brand was wired differently. All of these were set up so that the tombstones on one end of the light broke the power connection and turned the ballast off when the bulb was out of the fixture. That is the end that I did the wiring for my new bulbs. Make sure you put the sticker that came with the bulbs on the fixture, to let someone know in the future that LED lights bulbs are required.
