Anyone have experience and recommendations ? I want to put some up under the soffit above the patio. Looking for accent lighting mostly. Around 50 feet run. Looking for input regarding color, best mounting methods, wiring, etc.

Thanks,
Stu

I have led rope lighting installed on the bottom of the bottom rail of the vinyl bannister on my deck. Works real well, lasts longer than regular rope lighting. Color you choose is of your liking. Usually cool or warm white if your looking at white color. For mounting, google 1/2'' rope lighting track. Comes usually in 4 foot sections. I spray painted mine white as to not seeing the light directly but light does glow through the white paint.

Oddly enough, HD usually has a pretty good deal on this...it is a display in the lighting department and the brand is one of the big ceiling fan brands (I forget the name now). They had pretty decent prices for a lot of different lengths.

Whatever you get make sure you plug them and test them before you install. I've seen the same color box be different colors when turned on. But all you need to do is run an outlet on a switch and plug them in.

Used rope lighting a few times.

Theater room in old house had cove moulding mounted about 9" down from ceiling with rope lighting set in the V for indirect lighting.
Worked real well.
Had concrete curbing done a few years ago and an option was to have LED rope light placed in back edge of curb.
Hardly ever use it but looks cool when turned on.

Both applications used rope light that had marks every foot so you could cut length as required. Would recommend going with this type as you can customize the length as needed.
Has proven very durable both inside and out doors.

You can buy that stuff for dirt cheap on Ebay and Amazon, it's just not protected from the elements like normal rope lighting, it does say waterproof though. It runs off of DC so you need some type of power supply though. You can also Solder them together to make very long runs or cut them for short runs.

My buddy bought some for his deck, very flexible stuff
