Looking to get a tripod light, But wanting to go LED vs hot and power hungry halogen, But looking into the specs it doesn't seem many of the leds match up to halogen for lumens?
Interested in the home depot husky 7000 lumen multi directional one. Seems like decent light for the price. Anyone have one?

Mostly wanting it for extra light in the shop or when working outside at night etc. I really wanted the M18 rocket light (less lumens) but the portability would have been great but just can't afford the price of one.

Any suggestions?

Generally speaking LEDs used for lights are either
.25 watts .5 watts or 1 watt. I have seen many lights claim 300 watts using 1 watt LEDs but have 270 LEDs. So be careful in looking at LEDs it is easily understandable that a 270 led light would have 30 watts wasted as heat but the company should advertise the led watt usage rather than the total usage. In my mind 300 1 watt LEDs provides 300 watts of led light power and should draw about 340-350 watts max at the wall.

Lumen output is not all that accurate to compare I built some dc spot lights that use two 75 watt LEDs connected to a 12 volt 122 amp hour deep cycle battery these lights are sold as boat lights on amazon for about $40 a pair. These are great for portability and last about 4-6 hours never fully measured.

I’m using 2 stand alone led floods to light my shop at night right now till I get power ran to it and let me tell you them things are bright as ****. I have to be careful to not look at them or they’ll blind me temporarily.

I alternately use my Halogen tripod lights for heat and light. You might be able to put some LED bulbs in the old style Halogens. I did it for some exterior lights, where the T3 halogen bulbs kept breaking / dying between uses, and it was ******* me off. These have been fine for almost a year in one fixture, and 3 months in another.
