I wanted LED and rechargeable to give long life. Plus the cavity around the battery gives space for matches band aid's and many other survival things. After getting the NiteIze LED at Lowe's I found out about the reverse polarity problem. The way the battery is in the Lanterns it is reverse polarity to other flashlights. I had gotten the Rayovac rechargeable 6 volt that WalMart sells. With a close look at the top you can put a knife in a thin slot that they provided. It will pop off to expose the wires. I unsoldered the wires and switched them. The only thing you must be sure to mark them as reverse polarity. They have red and black on the post.
