Wally World sells an 18 inch T8 LED bulb that's quite nice. I prefer the soft white color for work on my desk lamp and these work fine!

I have to ask why? There's no real energy savings to be had. And a fluorescent tube in this application often lasts decades.

If it's a manual preheat AKA push and hold to start then a drop in LED is not going to work at all.

Cause I am getting older and can use MORE light at times.

Led tubes are usually designed to put out the same amount of light as the fluorescent lamp they are designed to replace.

I would not expect any more light.
