Good morning,

I have a Sterling GG45 running on Nat Gas and thermostat controlled running constantly all winter at minimum set temp of 55deg. Worked great all winter, but last night I accidently left garage door open all night and temps reached 9 degress F. Now the thermostat only states "LO" and even turning it up the heater will not kick on. Did the heater put itself in a "safe mode" or something. What suggestions do you have to get the heat back up and running? Did I possibly cause any damdage to the heater?

Thanks,
Billy

the tstat is probably locked out, becuase it got below a certian set point temperature. some of the digital ones do that and make them very tough to use for garages when you don't want to heat them all the time.

Try using a hair dryer and warm up the area around the tstat and see if it clears the lockout when it gets warm.

^^^THIS^^^

Been mentioned on this board several times in the past few weeks during thermostat discussions. Why a thermostat would be made that will not allow the heater to come on at extremely low temps is beyond me, but a good old mechanical thermostat is your best friend. Hair dryer will work to get it started but not sure if when you turn the hair dryer off that it won't again shut off.

If you can access the two thermostat wires, twist them or jumper them together till the temp gets up to normal then hook it back up properly.

So, you heated a good part of Michigan last nite?
