Hi Ya'll. New member here. I recently completed construction on my new garage. The slab is about 60 days old. I've never finished a garage floor before, but this forum gave me courage!

I applied Legacy acid stain and two coats of Legacy Standard Epoxy Sealer. I also applied Legacy non-skid to the second coat as it rains a lot on the coast and the floor will get wet from tires, feet, etc.

I am very pleased with the results. The variation in color ranges from blue to green to brown and everything in between. I will give the floor another day to cure and move in over the weekend.

Legacy.......will that floor stay that shiny for many years? Also after two coats that looks great. Is it necessary to cover with urethane for stain protection or is the epoxy good enough? Especially for a guy like me who works in the garage on hot rods etc?

Falcon64: The floor is great as-is. Adding the coat of urethane will enhance the gloss level and the wear/chem resistance.

If you plan on hitting the floor with solvents, then it's not a bad idea.

Ok my next question. If you apply the epoxy is it crucial that you apply the urethane immediately afterwards? Due to cost issues was wondering if I could do epoxy one year and coat with urethane at a later time

Easier to apply immediately following. Later is ok but more work. Need to degrease, degloss, wipe clean and apply.

That's exact the look I'm going for. What color stain is that? Did you do any prep other than the acid stain?

The color is Sea Grass. I also considered Azure Blue. Since my slab is new my prep for stain was sweeping and scrubbing with detergent followed with a fresh water rinse. I believe sanding is recommended for older floors.

I applied 4 coats of acrylic floor wax yesterday and moved in today. I think the floor would look better without non-skid, but I've read too many posts concerning slippery floors.

Your photo has sold me on acid staining as well. A question for you- did you dilute the tinted acid at all, or are your results from two coats at full strength?

Also, I know this may sound like an odd question, but what lighting conditions did you take the photo under? Just the one overhead fluorescent light seen in a reflection, or was a garage door open behind the camera on a sunny day, what wattage is/are the lights in the shop, how high off the floor are they, etc. ? I am asking because I am trying to gauge the darkness or "intensity" of the coloration, since Legacy's site seems to only have approximated color sample images. I'm after blues and greys for my floor, but I am not sure "Azure Blue" is what I am wanting or not, though I am guessing that "Azure Blue" is essentially "Sea Grass" without any green or browns in it, again at least trying to judge by the sample images on Legacy's site.

Thanks,
Neal.

I think the acid stain states to mix 50/50 with water in the instructions...I decided to go with English Red, ordered my stuff from Legacy this Morning...

I was liking the shifting sands but the red woooed me over...The sea grass is nice but I am just not a blue guy...In the end I was going to leave it natural but just before I hit send order I changed my mind... WTF I said, might as well do it like I want.

I'm going to see what effects I want to employ when installing this. I have a friend that has been trained by a supplier/manufacture on the application of this nature and will get his advise too.

Can't wait to have the clear on it.bI will be honest, I was not wanting to spend this kind of money on a concrete floor but the more I thought about it the happier I am I did...Hopefully it will last a long time... I will be dropping oe coin later to do the house attached garage....

That's absolutely amazing! How much would it cost to do 350-360 sq feet for my 2 car garage? I would either go with that color or one of the other blues they have. I need to check out their site!

Scotty, in looking at the spec of the acid stain on your site, it shows that the Cure & Seal is a recommended top coat. I'm not really interested in an Epoxy top coat because of possible yellowing. Will the cure & seal work well enough for a half working hobby restoration and half car storage shop? How does it hold up to splashing of oils and solvents? Thanks
