Well I "think" I have decided to go with the Transair system for my air lines in my garage. One of my clients is using it in their paint shop and it has eliminated almost all of their moisture problems.

Here is the system: http://www.transairaluminumpipe.com/

is anybody using this system?

I did have a few concerns about it. First is the price. This stuff isn't cheap. Well the pipe is OK but the connectors are a killer. A 25mm 20ft length is $68 but the connectors, which include pipe to pipe, elbows, and drop fittings run between $20 and $24. So I figured a 25mm "U" run around my garage (30x32) with four 16.5mm drops is going to cost roughly $700CAD.

The 16.5mm pipe is only $28 but it only comes in a 10ft length which means you need a pipe to pipe connector in there at a cost of $20 and the other connectors are only a couple dollars cheaper a piece. I figure the 25mm is the way to go.

I am going to price out copper today just so I know the difference, I really don't want to as I know it is going to be WAY cheaper...

My other concern was that with their design, they don't have a ball valve at the bottom of each drop. The connectors they use just dead heads at the bottom of the drop. I e-mailed them and they claim because of the drop bracket design, that takes air from the top of the tube, very little moisture makes it's way down the drop. Should I be concerned about this?

As a pipefitter by trade the only advantage I see in this system is the ease of installation ... the disadvantages are the selection of fittings and cost of materials

I would go with copper - esp. if it's gonna be cheaper. Besides, if something happens, you can get copper fittings at any hardware store....

That's what I would use to.
