When I was cleaning the filters today I saw the switch to the electronic air cleaner was in the off position. What is the correct position for this to be in when the HVAC is operating. I don’t ever remember turning this switch before when I cleaned the filters.

For clarity the top row is

OFF. Input voltage. (Green light)

ON. Output voltage. (Red light)

The thermostat has not called For heat since it was a nice day outside. 60*+

Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to look for owners manual or service manual. You know the cells are energize when you here the zapping of the dust particles.

I'm amazed that it's even working anymore. The market moved away from them 30 years ago. Those things throw a lot of ozone into the house. I'd suggest decomissioning it and putting in a retrofit high efficiency pleated filter, probably a 20" x 25" x 4".

Anyway, if you want to keep using it, the switch should be "on" (green and red lights both on) when the HVAC is in use. IIRC, there's a safety interlock that will shut it down if you open the door to pull the cells out with it turned on.
