Browsing Lowes today this caught my eye. It was boxed up in a corner with a tag implying it wasn’t to be broken down and displayed until a future date. From what I could see its 12 drawers, “heavy duty” (whatever that’s worth), and made in the USA. Color and drawer configuration wasn’t apparent from the small part of the packaging that was unobscured. Staff feigned cluelessness, couldn’t even offer a price. So now I’m curious. Who’s the OEM? Is it truly heavy duty? Perhaps even comparable to HD’s Milwaukee work station? And most importantly, what will it retail for?

Shoulda checked for a sticker with a weight on it, that would tell us all a lot right there...

218lbs...so how does that stack up to some of others

Doesn't look bad for additional storage unit I need something like that

I do not have a Lowes anywhere near me

218# seems light. The Milwaukee 52” is 346 but it is 4” deeper. Still you can’t tell me an extra 4” depth equals nearly 50% more weight.

That does seem fairly light, my 41" craftsman industrial roll cab is 240lb and its only 18 in deep.

The Milwaukee 52” is 9 drawers plus 2 “half drawers” (which I’ve never understood).

BUT.....I guess between 4” extra depth, 2 more half-*** drawers and the wood top the Milwaukee should be an extra ~120#???? Maybe??? I dunno. Er I see the Lenox has a wood top too so now I’m not believing it. Must be sheetmetal gauge différences

If the Milwaukee is 4" deeper, then that extra depth is across the board...4" deeper drawers, slides, wood top and overall cabinet frame/sheet metal would account for some of the additional weight. Add possible thicker sheet metal?? then the additional weight starts to add up.

PS...possible heavier duty castors too.

I fondled one at Lowe's last week. I wasn't wowed by any means. If felt no better than the Kobalt 3000 Series boxes next to it.

I already stated in what you quoted the Lenox is also shown w a wood top. So what are you saying about the wood? You believe it may be heavier on the Milwaukee?

Toolguyd has an entry on this box that has some promotional photos for those interested. It doesn't really answer the questions regarding the gauge.

After playing with one in the store I'd say it's 19 or 20 gauge. Like I said earlier, it felt on par with boxes like the Kobalt 3000 Series, the Milwaukee, and Harbor Freight 44".

If it’s made here I wonder who makes it?

It's not made here. It says "Designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A". It has some odd sheet metal flanges you never see on a toolbox, I think it actually must knock down and they basically put it together here when it comes from China?

Price doesn't look terrible, but it doesn't look impressive and it's not "Made in USA" from how the description looks.

Looks like a Waterloo to me, with similar aluminum trim to the higher-grade Craftsman stuff. Based on the comments about the sheet metal gauge, it sounds pretty likely.

I saw one of these boxes at Lowes yesterday and was not impressed. I thought it looked cool as I walked over to it, but as soon as I opened one of the drawers I was shocked at the crappy design of the drawer handle/latch. When you pull on a drawer handle it pivots upward to unlatch the drawer, but it pivots up so far that it scrapes on the frame of the box above the drawer. Maybe other boxes have this problem but this is the first time I ever noticed it.
