Looks to me like some extra fancy stuff built into the Lenox that I wouldn't need. I've been using Stanley for years. I have the ones made in the USA. I don't know how much different the imported ones are now. Stanley also has a quick blade change model.

Lenox makes nice quality tools, but that of coarse comes with a price. It would be interesting to at least try there blade. Getting tried of cheap blades that break and go dull to fast.

I picked a few of those up last summer. Everyone I gave them to, as well as I, seem to really like them.

They're more ergonomic than classic style utility knives. They're also a bit more heavy duty than the stanley quick change knives that were introduced about 6-7 years ago, as well as having a better finish. Not that the last part makes a huge difference. I'd actually state though that the quick change on the Stanley's is better, the Lenox are not as intuitive and require a bit of practice. FWIW Lenox blades are exceptional. Plus... the it's a pretty cool looking utility knife!

I'll also add that over the course of a summer, the white paint seemed to be scratched pretty easily. However, that's likely due to them being thrown in buckets along with other tools and materials, to be carried into field work.

We use the self retracting knives at my overly safety concious work. They are definitely the nicest safety knives I've used. Blade changes are simple and toolless and they are well built. The gold series only look nicer.

Quick change blade, self-retracting? Guess I need to get out of the house more, didn't realize they made those.

Many years ago I came into large lot of those utility blades, both the style in this thread and the break-off style. Large lot as in a lifetime supply. And I must have a half dozen or more that take the kind of blade being discussed here, but the handles are the old school type which requires splitting the halves to install new blades. This is of course a pia so those knives almost never get used.

Guess I better get some quick change models to try out. How does the self-retracting work?

Thanks

They are worth it IMHO, their blades are well worth the extra price if you ask me, stays sharp for alot longer. I also use their locking folding utility knife, by far the best fold utility knife I have ever used.

This knife is worth every penny.

I was buying all kinds of utility knives after I lost an old Cman a couple years ago. Probably because my initial replacement was a total POS. Currently I have a Snap On, basic husky, a folding husky, a HF sliding thing, and this Lenox. I think the Lenox is way more comfortable than any utility knife I have used. I assumed the white finish would be always be dirty or scratch up but the finish is really durable and cleans up easily.

As other have said, the blades are amazing. Expensive but amazing.

Been using there utility knife blades for about 5 years, I am a carpenter and use them every day. They last probably 5x a cheep blade. Stay sharp and are hard to break

Hmm... Those reviews definitely leave me wondering. At least I know my Stanley will have blades available at any store :)

Has anyone else had the problems mentioned on Amazon?

The quick changing knife is a piece of junk. The mechanism that allows you to change the blade is held into the handle with 2 rivets. When the rivets break the mechanism "floats" inside the handle making the blade wobble and feel unwieldy. Their blades are nice but I stick them in my Milwaukee Fastback and its been smooth sailing ever since.

I've been through a variety of folding box cutters, but none compare to the Craftsman IMO. I've had every other brand I've tried let go of the blade while cutting boxes; the Craftsman has a friction clip that folds over, and aggressive blade use won't flip the blade out.

Don't see anything special about them to make me want to order one. But if I saw one in a local store I probably would check them out.

Never knew Lenox made bimetal & TiN coated utility blades. I'd like to try some out. I use Lenox bimetal blades on my bandsaw & I like them much better then Starrett & Irwin.

I've got the Lennox and like it. I like the tool-less blade change. It's designed and built better than the green Toptul ones I have. The Lennox is the heaviest utility knife I own, which is good or bad depending on what I'm doing. If heavy cutting, the heavier weight is great.
