So I've had a collection of battery tools for years, 3 platforms of them to be exact.

I started years ago w/Ridgid and still have some that are 10 years old. Been good to me...

I then replaced some tired ridgids with some m12. Never an issue...

I have a Stihl platform for two yard tools. Never an issue.....

So what did I do wrong, #1 I never registered any of the three platforms above and have never needed to with never having an issue...

I hated to add another platform, but purchased a Ryobi hand held power washer to clean small areas like my attached screen room after pollen and once before winter season cause it was tough to drag the gas unit around when one is in pain, also found it great for washing out the plastic garbage buggys 2X a year. It was stellar.

Then my 2 dysons vacuums that had each been rebuilt 2X died and a Ryobi Stick vacuum came to the rescue, again used daily worked great.

Mistake #2 I never registered either of the Ryobi's and about a year in one of the pins on the dust bin sheared off, still worked but you just had to be careful putting it on. Tried to buy a new one and was told it's on backorder til the cows come home, but of course I didn't register it so I would have to buy it and that's ok by me if I could get it, it's done the job every day for an hour each day since I purchased it.
Continuing on with Mistake #2 I pulled the Handheld Pressure washer out yesterday and while it runs it is no better than a good garden house, it was never exposed to sub 32 degree temps as i heat the garage overnight to a minimum of 60 degrees when it gets that cold...

I'm disappointed and but it's my own fault and I know that...I don't see myself purchasing many more tools in the time god will let me stay on earth but I jumped on the Ryobi Platform for those two tools cause they met my needs, any none of the other platforms I owned offered something compatible...

The moral of the story is don't be like Bob, if'n y'all buy something w/a warranty REGISTER IT.

Having to “register” a warranty is so petty. Just another hoop for consumers to jump through in order to get what they paid for.

If I bought it from an authorized distributor and have proof of such, I should be entitled to the advertised warranty. Period!

Is the warranty transferable? If not, that makes the, less valuable on the second hand market. Less chance of theft as they are not as valuable, but they make buying new more attractive.

I have a whole bunch of ridgid tools. They’ve gone through some growing pains with their lifetime service agreement (not a warranty). I’m fortunate to have a local lawn mower repair shop who is a service center for Ridgid and other power tools brands. For common repairs where he has parts on the shelf, hes had them back to me in less than 24 hours.

I agree w/you, but if I didn't do it with any of the tools I have that were all purchased new why would I do it w/a used tool if I were to ever buy one, which is highly unlikely...

If you want a Tool Truck warranty y'all gonna pay Tool Truck prices and none of these consumer tools platforms are that worthy and I'm not healthy enough to be able to get the use out of them like a pro would.

I'm just throwing it out there that my way was ok til it wasn't, not complaining just my view. I made my bed, I'll lie in it, but it'll make me think twice about ever buying a Ryobi product again, especially If I don't warranty it as has become my habit after always having products that didn't fail so quickly.

Some manufacturers will make claims about needing to register the item on the warrantee information, but still offer the warrantee with proof of purchase, even if the item was never registered.
This may vary by state, and be based on individual state law, or the registering requirement may simply be an attempt to collect information on customers.
I know a TV I purchased from Target a couple decades ago required warrantee registration, which I never fid, but I called the warrantee phone # when the TV failed, and the manufacturer knew exactly when and where the TV was sold, and simply required me to mail it in for service, which I did, and it was repaired and mailed back to me for free.
