I ran across this site while doing a search and thought I'd share https://s4-us3.ixquick-proxy.com/do...http://www.boysungrain.com/images/Mill/01.jpg On a mill, one usually has a light on a flex shaft or a shaft that can be locked and the light shines on the piece in the vise. This guy modified a tent light that uses LED's and mounted it on the quill. In doing that, the light is always directly above your part. I like it!!!

Another cool light mod is to use an LED "angel eye" ring light for car headlights. I siliconed it to the quill and it directs light directly onto the workpiece. You can get the lights on ebay or amazon cheaply and use a simple wall transformer to power

So which one of our Canuck buddies is going to be the pivot man in a group buy? :)

Agree that these lights are a good solution to the shadow effect of most lighting solutions...

It's our poorer Canadian version of Harbor Freight. I sometimes envy the stuff you can get down there, good to know it's sometimes reciprocal. :)

You have to use a freight forwarder to an airport close to you. I order from HF and it's like 20 bucks for them to get it for me.

I'm going to be down in the US in April and I'll have a bit of room in my truck. I fully plan to hit a Harbor Freight store on the way home. Just can't decide what to buy.

Hey Thanks for the info! Great Find!

Have been looking for one of those!!! At that price, will most likely purchase 2. One for the garage and the other one for the basement!!!!

Okay the deal at Princess was too good to pass up.
I just pulled the trigger on 3 of them as I have two drill presses and a mill.

Be aware that the final pricing it gives you is in Canuck bucks! Not a deal breaker though.

Three of these shipped to USA was $61.92CDN / $62.37USD

I think of the dozens of things I have got from HF about 2 minor things were not acceptable especially considering the cost. I dont have one here either, order and sometimes when a bud goes to the city have him score a few things. Lots of other stores got great stuff these days to at great priced. Shopping is so much better than it was 30 yrs ago.

I just when through the pre order. I added 20 units cost 300.00(about) and shipping was about 30.00. They ship based on size and weight so cost is good.
If all you are interested we can make a large order. Let's make a list and go from there

I ordered the lights from Princess Auto and 6 days later they were delivered. Packing job was okay, box came in good condition.

I was hoping that they would be like the light shown above. Close anyways. Not as many LEDs but bright enough where they are uncomfortable to look at.

Anyway - I think they will do the job quite nicely. Here are some pics of the unboxing and first lighting. I will post pics later once I can get into my shop and mount one of them.

Made in Taiwan.

The switch box has a couple of super magnets on it. Should work well to secure the switch box to the housing of the mill or drill presses.
Switch quality was fair and not what tou would call cheesy, but the rocker switch itself is a bit small. Still it is only switching 4.5v DC from the supplied wall-wart power supply.
The power cord from the switch box to the light housing is coiled and seems to be of reasonable quality. Since the light housing itself is to be mounted t the quill housing, it will need to travel with it. The coiled cord will help that...

The housing for the LEDs is the expected black plastic. The three thumb screws are plated and turn through the housing with mild resistance so the should be somewhat resistant to vibration.
The overall quality is actually better than I anticipated!

I have a Princess Auto fairly close to me. I would gladly pick up & ship them to anyone who wants them. With the cost of shipping I don't know how feasible it is to do 1 at a time. It would be best if guys were to get together in their own local group & have me send them down for a group of you. Get your self a small group ready (or individually, doesn't matter to me) & pm me. I will get it done as soon as I can.
I was actually thinking of trying one out for mig welding. Don't know how it will work but I'll try & let you know how it works.

I want to state, before I start this that I am not overly fast at anything I do, but I always get it done right. So if your going to participate you cant be on any kind of time crunch.

Was in Princess auto today. The light is now $29.99. I guess enough people bought them that they must have thought they were under.priced.
At 15 I would buy them, at 30 no way! Ill wait till they go on sale if they ever do.
