Scored these lights from a warehouse. Tired of working in the dark and fighting bad flourescent bulbs and ballasts. Gonna hang 8 of them in my 40x50. Should be plenty of light. Best part is they were free!

Cool! Now you'll be fighting much more expensive lamps and ballasts. :)
Just kidding.
Free is good!

The biggest thing with those style of lights is to remember that they are not an instant on off light, that ballast needs time to warm up and cool down. I had a guy try to give me some one time and told him I'd pay him if he didn't leave them with me.

Two problems : Once they are burning if the power glitches or if they are turned off ....it takes about 5 min or so to refire. Those are High Bay fixtures ,you may have to try to cut the reflectors down to get good light coverage. PITA

True. I dont feel like having to cut all these reflectors. I might have to re think this. The purlins i was gonna hang these on is at about 14ft. So lets say 12ft to the floor. You dont think i would get enough coverage?

They're free.
Try them and see if you like them.

They also look good for a home garage.
If you don't like the light, the warm up time or the cost to run them, retrofit them with a $2 medium base ceramic lamp holder and screw in an LED or incandescent floodlight.

^ ^ ^ This. Trial period to see whether they work for you.

HEAT factor is significant. Are you located in AZ and paying for air conditioning for your shop nearly year round ??

Update GJ Profile with City/State/Country.

If cold environment and heat is welcome relief, then you might need a couple ceiling fans to push that heat down to where you're at !! ;)
