Kudos to Hiball for answering all questions about jacks.

I'll post a picture later of my 93632 after the U-joint repair. I lifted my Chevy Cavalier with it and then let it sit for over 2 hours, remeasuring to a vantage point of where it was when I started.

Did not move an inch. One working Walker 93632 1.5 ton service floor jack back in business.

Nah.. All it do is Use my Experiences along with the Motto of Keeping things simple in a attempt to keep people Motivated into fixing there own problems, Its Not as difficult as some/shops make it out to be. Ill be the First to admit, Ive had Past discussions with shop owners in regards to.. Well lets say "Being to Helpful". I also will admit that i was one the fence initially here at GJ as i was still running quite a bit of business out of the Shop, Fortunately for me i only worked on Jacks on the Side, Which felt like a full time Job at time. Im Glad i have put the time in here at GJ/GG and Hope that everyone who i have assisted and others who have Helped will continue... It will be Nice to look back 20 years from Now and hopefully see some of the more positive threads still being bumped occasionally, Let alone someone actually know what a Hein Werner Oboy, Walker 93632 or Blackhawk SJ18 looks like.

I have a feeling my GJ days are going to be few and far between as Me and my Wife are expecting our first child, Its been along journey with enough fertility treatments to damn near get my own parking spot along with Countless Hours spent at Adoption/fostering Classes. If everything continues on Gods Plan we will be bringing a New Addition into the family around the Middle of August. Im Not sure How high you guys will Rank on the Priority Scale after that.. :p

Well, your kindness and good nature do not go unnoticed. As you said, many would just "cry uncle" and bring it to a shop, when in reality, as you said, they would be able to fix it themselves.

I taught myself how to fix appliances the same way. It's bolts, nuts and some thinking with the thinking cap. If you can take apart a car, you can do an appliance. I then bought a few books from Ebay (OEM manuals) and read. Also, having a neighbor with a broken machine or two and "let's take a crack at it, we lose nothing", got us motivated to fixing his----then it was a cake walk for me when my machine had the same problem.

Good luck to you and hope you'll still be around!! Bravo!

Yeah, Hiball is the ****. Great contributor to the site, level headed poster, knowledgeable and always willing to help. I have an old Lincoln/Hein Werner jack that works again because of his parts and advice.

Steven, if you ever find yourself in East Tennessee and need a chair to hold your *** up and something cold in your hand we've got both here by the fire pit!

And congratulations on becoming a Father soon!

Best of luck for you and yours with the new addition.

Sounds as if the new member will be coming into a great family.

He's a great guy and a huge asset to this forum. Steven brings a very specific skill set and knowledge base from years of experience. I wish he was local. Not anyone can properly rebuild a jack as a number of local hydraulic shops have proved, yet Steven will tell dumb it down for anyone willing to try. He will give you a straight answer to save time and money on your potential project jacks.

Occasionally now, but more so when I was younger asking lots of questions; I would run across these people. In my experience those that REALLY know and are able to, don't mind sharing especially for work such as this. There is knowing how to do something, and then there is actually doing it. Having the special tools, strength, time and ambition to rebuild a jack is out of the scope for the vast majority. Maybe a large percentage of people on this forum are able and willing, but that is just a small sample of the population.

A friend of mine, automotive mechanic, talks about how he fears the trade is going to dwindle on need soon as cheap tools, internet access how to's and the DIY culture is growing rapidly. I tell him, that while there are those that want to do it themselves, there will always be those that don't have the time, ambition or give a damn to learn and then try themselves. Typically those are the people that are willing and able to spend the big bucks for someone else to do the work for them.

Big congrats on your upcoming family addition.

Exactly. I have friends that the only tool that they have in their toolbox is a cellphone (to call someone). I get satisfaction in learning and helping someone else as it reinforces my knowledge.

My late grandpa would say, "Always help someone when you can, it will only come back to you ten fold". He was 1000% right.

I do not have a floor jack, nor have I used one since I changed tires while working at a Phillips 66 back in the 60's, but for some reason I enjoy Hiball's posts. Congrats on the addition to the family, from one Show-Me guy to another!

Hiball has been very helpful to me, also. One time even refunding money I tried to pay him for his time.
My 20-ton bottle jack and my 4-tom Walker floor jack both owe their re-birth to him.

Thanks again, Steven

 Congrats on the new addition on the way! He helped me with some things I've run into on a vintage early 80's Lincoln 10 ton floor jack I'm still in progress on. Actually down to the refinishing and putting it back together part of things now. My current bit is recreating the early art deco style Lincoln logo so I can make correct new decals for it. I don't care for the newer plain logo.

I've never worked on a floor jack, but have enjoyed reading through the great posts by Hiball. Fantastic job and a great benefit to many. If I ever come into a jack needing repair, I know where to look now.
Congratulations on the family addition! Sounds like your priorities are set up right. Looking forward to seeing more posts from you as find the time.

Thanks for all the comments fella's, it indeed is a great feeling witnessing someone go from Unsure to Understanding and then Thankful after completing there task. It makes the keyboard time worth it...

I also spoke with a member recently in regards to fertility issues, for anyone struggling in this department, My advice is to take a break when the pressure gets to be too much. Ironically we got pregnant on our own, after we did about 10 consecutive procedures and decided that God had a bigger plans for us and started adoption proceedings. I'm a firm believer that the Stress wasn't helping us in this department and holding us back, once we relaxed, the Magic happened.

kind of the way most of us felt with jack's before your help. As a father of two sons, 12 and 11, the are indeed a hell of a gift. If you can handle varous jacks, your biggest challenge will be interpolating directions translated to english for the various things.

We are all here to help with those; thanks for everything jack wise..

+1 for Hiball again, as I used the Walker 93632 jack this weekend to do an oil change on my sister's car. Worked like new. I took the time to grease it up as well. Worked even better....

Thanks.:thumbup::thumbup:
