How many of you guys who've been treated poorly by a ruthless tool dealer have languished the idea of looting the truck?

Yes I know it's next to impossible to pull off such a heist in the middle of the night within a paranoid upper middle-class neighborhood, but think of how cool it would be to get even with the ***** ******* and get some nice tools in the process?

Am I the only one that's pondered such impure thoughts? I'll tell you point blank (no pun intended ) that I've dreamed of doing just that.

Can't complain. My former Snap-on dealer was good, so good that he never came to collect the $680 i owed him despite me calling to try pay him. It now seems he's no longer with Snap-on.

It's not impossible. In the last few months there have been 12 tool trucks broken into in my area. 1 guy got hit 3 times, 1 stot at (but missed) on the 2nd time, another held them at gunpoint when he caught them the 2nd time. The thieves knew their stuff & was able to disable the alarm no matter what style/brand truck or alarm.

My snap-on guy is good. He comes off his route and about 20 miles out of his way when I need something. He shows up at my office which is great.

Oh yeah it happens. It comes in waves. One of the guys that got hit was a real good friend. He lost about 80% of his inventory. Was he insured? Sure. Does that make it any easier to deal with? No way. The stress that puts them under is unreal. They've lost normal inventory & special orders. Most of the customers will understand but a few won't. They'll get mad because they can't get what they want now & take it out on the distributor who is trying to deal with all of it. The guy that got hit 3 times is calling it quits, or at least that's what I'm told secondhand.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone -- even some of those a-hole truck vendors. Many years ago my shop was broken into and all the mechanics tools were stolen. I lost everything -- not being able to make a living was the most helpless feeling.

If I were that disgruntled, I'd just move on. I mean why risk it, it would take more energy and effort then it's worth - and if you get caught it's all for naught. Why what happend here, did I miss something?

I used to think it was just living in Phoenix was why most of my tool truck dealers are armed. However, after reading of people's fantasies about looting a tool truck, I guess the dealers have good reason to be armed.

Now the key to what he is saying lies in this poetical word “languished.” Bgarrett gives us a list of the meanings for that word in this very thread, all that’s needed is word substitution. So to translate from Merkava’s hi-falootin’ journalist-speak, here’s what he’s saying in language all you rednecks can understand:

- Have you ever lost your vigor and vitality, when the Snap-on truck left?
- Have you ever suffered prolonged tool-buying inactivity, and suffered hardship and distress when you weren’t able to buy a new tool for 24 hours?
- Have you ever pined with desire and longing for a tool (and/or the tool dealer)?
- Have you ever felt tender and sentimental toward the tool truck (and/or the tool dealer)?​

If you consider Merkava’s words carefully, you will see that this is his true meaning, and very consistent with all his other posts here. So why don’t y’all back off and give my man Merkava some room, he’s just feeling a little tender and sentimental toward the tool truck right now.

"idea" is an object so you can't use the verb to languish in that sentence. It's an intransitive verb. That is, it doesn't taken an object. You don't "do" anything to something (i.e. the object). So you don't languish something. You can languish. An idea can languish. But you can't languish anything.

I understand why dealers have to carry weapons,they're probably carrying tens of thousands of dollars on their trucks, any knuckle head would try to rob them for their tools and then head to the pawnshop to cash in on a daily basis.
