Has anyone ever seen a Snap On model B 3408 for sale? I’m a Scaffold builder, but it was used for lineman work. It’s a pin drive ratchet with the 7/8 closed end wrench on the bottom. I’m very interested in willing to pay good money Snap On mom posted one long time ago

Eight have sold on eBay since January. Prices varied but figure $300 range based on the sold comps. You can set up a search alert on eBay and be notified of new listings.

Very nice T handle I have a couple of those style cases and the pinched sliders nut no T handles like that. Just the earlier one with the cross bar that goes through it. There seems to be a lot of variations in the early midget T's

1960 TMB kit, any tools with date mark are 1960, including case [which has only one clip]. All original tools,
was probably a kit from early tech or school, factory stencil. Among the first KRA 275 kits with the TM70 ratchet.
Last use of the Octa Grip driver.

Vacuum Grip only, no Snap on logo
Nice pliers.

FYI, @Old Radar started a thread dedicated to in-house FSP Vacuum-Grip pliers and other products made and sold separately well before they supplied them to Snap-on, simultaneously to supplying them to Snap-on, and also well after they were "merged" with Snap-on, if you want to also post it there. Good thread for seeing other examples and info, too, including a guy who is an FSP maven and annual FSP collectors' convention attendee at the original site in Newport, PA.

Done!
I need to dig out the others I have and get those up there as well.

I showed this last week and from the rabbit hole I believe the needle nose are 1920s, before Snap-On took over Vacuum Grip. And then I found this 1956 Vacuum Grip Snap-on Grease cup pliers. I will be using these when I get back on the Elgin Boat Trailer. It has the old axle bearings like days gone by. Would like to find a Elgin Boat. I have a bunch of the motors and the trailer. Someone straighten me out on the pliers. Thanks.

Found this surprise at the bottom of a toolbox from a recent estate sale.
A Snap-on 9/32 set--all date coded 1935 except the extension which is 1936. I cannot find this set in any of the online SO catalogs from that era. The set is missing the M-10 5/16" socket, while the M-408 8pt has been abused and the M-7, 7/32" has sadly been ground down to reduce the circumference.

These were small sets that I believe came as part of larger tool sets. The snapon logo is only stamped, not embossed on these types of sets. 20240414_142237.jpg20240414_142437.jpg

If you want the sockets to complete the set feel free to reach out I'm pretty sure I have some extras to finish ur set with a 35 code.

My flea find from yesterday is much more humble.

20240414_152439_resized.jpg

But puzzling!

20240414_152424.jpg

Has anyone seen that number (or any similar number) underneath the "S-3" (or any other wartime handle part number) before?

You can see the long dash and "G" next to the branding, which is a date code practice and date code that usually indicates 1945.

But note how much larger the "3" in the "2253" is than the "225". Note also how the "225" is centered directly under the part number. It makes me very tempted to read that "3" as extraneous to the number and looking conspicuously more like a 1943 date code in that respect.

That would make it 1943 production that was re-stocked for some reason and stamped again. Not unprecedented, but not exactly common during wartime, either, or not as common as the 1929-1934 at the cusp of the Great Depression.

That makes the extra number "225".

Customer? Other? Thoughts? Other examples? I scoured all my WWII Snappy drive stuff and could not find any similar marking on any other piece, socket or handles.

I was happy to dig it out of a huge pile of miscellaneous tools on a table, making my efforts very much worth while, because I didn't have one, and I was happy to add it to my 1944 S-12 and my 1944 S-6.

Here's the group shot if only for markings context.

Thanks, Don. That is very helpful. It eliminates my conjecture (if I had to guess, it looks like they meant to stamp 2253 and missed the last digit somehow, and completed it with a date code "3" stamp!) and searching on "2253" takes me back to your original posting following @snapmom 's post about the 22xx numbers, where she is also speculating customer. This will be an interesting one to try to track down.

Allison V-1710 Aircraft engine tool kit. I think I mentioned that in the thread being referred to as well.

You did, it was this thread, page 103, last October, I just wasn't following/tracking. Am now. Thanks! Did you ever post the reference?
No. You'd think those marked extensions would be easy to find considering they pumped out like 70,000 of those engines but not in my experience.

I also posted this KRA-500A in the Vintage Tool Boxes of GJ thread

Biggest thanks to @ALLFAST
He didn't just tip me off, he said GO GET IT!

1968......?
There is a 68 on the third line after Kenosha Wisc. USA but nothing that I can see that indicates the month of production
snapkra1.jpgsnapkra2.jpg
The Seller is a Realtor who says this box and mid was left behind in a house that he sold
It was full of tools, many of which were Snap On!!
He gave away most of the tools to friends, neighbors
He had a couple boxes of random Snap On tools left, some sockets, odd wrenches, etc. that he had a buyer coming for
Upon inspection, I noticed that most of the sockets have a date code of 1967

Posted in the Vacuum Grip thread too.
Truly Vacuum Grip, or just Snap on? Either way, a new acquisition. I always wanted a snap on set of drum brake pliers, but all the years I pulled wrenches, I never bought a pair. Just used old Craftsman ones. Now, the dream is realized.
Interesting date stamps too '53/54.
