Four different swivel plugs from the mid 20s
The top two are 5/8 dr and bottom 1/2 dr
The two with no cogs do not have the SO logo, SO had the patent for these, both look like their sisters, just no cogs. I have not seen the no cogs with a logo.

I’ve been looking for one of those for quite a while for my 1/4” drive set. Here is one that my tool buddy found for his set. I have a ‘50s placeholder. Any interest in a doing some sort of trade? I have some Snap-on extras available.

This twisted old 1/2dr 4” extension is in a $20 box lot of unmarked extruded spark plug sockets. I just couldn’t part with $20 to liberate it. So photo only.

Thanks to Snapmom’s gift of the hard to find short extension, my mostly 1944 1/4” drive set is finally complete.

Thanks, OTG.
I got a tip from the UK that these wrenches were available on eBay that matched the specifications and part numbers of the set in the WW2 Navy NAF catalog. The Evaporust worked its magic and they came out looking pretty fresh for cad plated wrenches.

I have my Snap on credit book from 1982 when I worked at the Conoco service station at the corner of ninth and Camino Del Rio, in Durango, CO. And then I have another one from about 1986 when I worked in the machine shop at Max’s Auto Supply. I wish the sales receipts would not have faded out to the point that I can no longer read them. I guess that could work to my advantage if the snap on dealer ever wants to see an invoice for warranty purposes I could just hand him my book, it could be for anything ;-)

Dear All, Happy New Year

I have this 1930's(?) Blue Point Double Box XD-2425. (Size 3/4 - 25/32)

I have done some Googling but cannot find any references to this in order to date it more accurately?
The closest I get is the table here at Alloy Artifacts:
http://alloy-artifacts.org/snapon-bluepoint-tools.html#bp-xd1214
And Collecting Snap-On:
http://www.collectingsnapon.com/index.php?page=wrenches/XD%20Series
But mine (XD-2425) is not there...

Any idea's?

Thank you

Finally had the opportunity to look for date codes.

It reads "E" and "1"

The E may indicate that it was made in 1944, possibly 1943. I’m not sure about the other stamping. Check the E mark on the ratchet of my 1/4” drive set upthread. Here it is again.

I'm not sure that is a "1". I might be tempted to postulate that it may have been made in 1941, originally stamped "1", sat around un-sold, then stamped "E" late war. But, the 1941 "1" has a very pronounced curving base, and they weren't making the XD-2425 in 1941, not according to the catalogs, anyway. It shows up in the November 1944 (1945) catalog. You know it's been bent on the one end, right? It's not a single offset pattern wrench.

I checked a couple of my Snap-on extras today and found a 3/8” drive socket that is dual marked 1941 & 1945. I also found a DBE wrench with a 1941 date code which was quite a small stamping.

Picked up a tiny Vacuum-Grip 34 slipjoints today. Looks like a 1927 date code on inside handle.

Great examples of the occasional lag-time practice I was referring to, Don, which will save me the trouble of digging mine out! :) See what I mean about the pronounced base on the 1941 "1" stamp though? The OP's modified XD-2425 doesn't have that.

Nice snag, LS. It's amazing what time (use, actually, especially the repetitive abrasive rubbing of a human thumbprint) will do to steel.

Nice set! Have you checked the catalogs to see when it was offered? I’m looking for a cad plated C-2022 if anybody has an extra.

If this was cad-plated, it’s mostly worn off. Is it the right era, with the slanted font, or are you looking for the upright font? Some PO induced a slight offset on the 5/16” end.
I also have a chrome-plated C-2022 and a C-1816. And a J-1214, which is either cad or nickel.
And a No1618, I think cad (or nickel).
You want any/all of these, Don?
