I have the two missing extensions, but they're wrong year/finish. They're in my working toolbox now, so don't think I'll take them out and add to the set. I also have a duplicate of the speed wrench in my get rid of pile.

I treated myself to a couple new pieces.

LR-42 ratchet
NS-4-L speeder

They’re a nice match, both 1954, which I didn’t plan. The condition very good, only minor use wear on each. I’m very happy with them. It’s not often I go for old Snap On in this nice of shape.

Thanks for the offer, but I have one.
Am looking for a K4B from the early 30s, and a slew of industrials

Continue cleaning my August 30 purchases - takes a lot of time.

I finally finished cleaning this set. It took around a week in ATF (thank you for the idea, GJ gurus!!!), some cleaning, some wirebrushing and a little Superlube and
1957 Snap On GM-70-M ratchet is working as new!
This set was most likely put together by PO over some time given different ages, some doubles and some missing pieces

P.S. There is a small plug hole on the top. Once the heavy grease dissolved, there was nothing there (I checked a container where it was soaking - I use transparent yellow narrow tube medicine contained somebody gave me to soak). What kind of plug was supposed to be there? (if any)

Does anybody have a similar set and can point me out what was it for? Carburetor kit?

P.P.S. To the more observant ones: there are 2 Indestro pieces there. With time I will probably find period correct breaker bar, extension and couple of sockets which were missing/removed/never bought and replaced by doubles.

A snap on model ZR7 ratchet 1/4 drive made in Mexico. Date code looks like 1970.
The Mexico made tools show up mostly out of the US. I suspect they were made for international customers, as very few Mexico tools show up in the USA. This one did.

I would be curious to know!

Me too.

Well, I asked the seller. His answer:

That information is kept confidential between the buyer and the seller. Sorry. I can tell You that the item was well worth the buy it now price it was listed for. Thanks for the interest in this item, and please look for future ultra rare items I will be listing.

He may have felt it was worth the Buy It Now price it was listed for, but that is not the price he sold it for. He accepted an offer. If you go to Advanced, it's shown with his $2,499.00 BIN price struck through. Like everyone else, I think that price is crazy, but I have to admit, I don't know the market. I know they're rare. But I have no precedence. I can see someone paying several hundred for it, maybe even a thousand, because those kinds of tools and those kinds of buyers are out there. (I once sold a Jeep wrench no bigger than a pinkie finger to someone for $700.) But I don't know this market. How rare are they? Do you (snapmom) or OTG or tin medic have one? Do they have a going rate/range? If so, what is it?

EDIT: Maybe SOCKETS bought it, raising his collection to 13,001 pieces, and we'll see it show up in its own thread soon.

Honestly that auction looks like something the guy made himself.
Is that really a tool that Snap-on made?

I am looking for Snap-on's clear ratcheting screwdriver. They show up from time to time.
However I don't need it. I have my plain old black one from maybe the 1990s. Still works fine. I just think a clear one would be cool.

The last one I saw was listed at $450. or something like that. Someone bought it too but I don't know for how much.

I got a KR300D and a KR61 top Superchest as a set for $500 if memory serves. Local, thank Vulcan, so I just drove over and picked them up.
Last week I saw a KR300 for $1000. I was older than mine and looked to be in good condition but that seems high. Maybe the lamp came with it?

In other news, I just got some "old" impact sockets. 1970s I think.
The seller told me 10mm-19mm, but I counted the sockets and there should have been a 9mm. What I suspected was true. When they came today I saw that the 9 and 10 were switched in the wrong position on the rail. The seller never even bothered to look at each number or simply count them.

Anyway, take care.

I have a couple. Did not pay near that much for them but it has been awhile. I think 100 to 300 depending on condition is more realistic.

They are rare, but not super rare, see maybe 5 or 6 in the last 20 years. usually sell 100-300. I have one in my radio set. There are some SO tools that are selling for crazy prices right now, it happens every few years. Nice time to sell, but not buy. There was a time that the 50s cats were selling for 300 ea

There are still items to find like the Mex. rat, only 1/4 mex rat I have seen.

It will probably take me another month to clean all the tools from August 30 purchase
1944 ratcheting DBE No 75 (1/2-9/16)

I suspect the small metal piece is the drawer opening tool from SO (same size as the one I bought from them, but shorter and missing the second bend). May be this one was for smaller carry on boxes like KRA-21

I found the pair of 1944 ratchet wrenches that are shown in the Navy catalog. One of them has navy engraving. They are in my NAF box.

Nice!
I wonder why NAVY had only those two sizes in their catalog. There were other sizes available.

Not during WWII. At least not according to the catalogs. The 1942 and 1945 (published Oct 1944) catalogs only list those two sizes. I have joked with Don (d42jeep) before about it being an easy set to collect - as opposed to some of the other sets we are typically trying in vain to complete.

Thank you, Lugz. I guess I am 50% there to collect this set!!!

Cleaned up small pliers from (yep, the same August 30s aquisition - takes me forever to clean it, but I do not mind)
1958 Vacuum Grip. I wonder what such a small size was used for...

Mine are from 1953. I think that they are a useful size when something small is a little tighter than finger tight.
