I found this Vaco RC-6 "Red Cap" 1/4" screwdriver in a thrift store earlier today. I can't find any info on Internet Archive, Google, TESS, Worthpoint, or ebay, but from the "+" shaped handle, black oxide blade, and the overall cheap feel I'd say it was their economy line at some point. If it hadn't had said Vaco on it, I would have left it behind.

I think they made those "reversible" units for damn near everybody. I have both blue and red models - branded "Indestro" - both obviously VACO sourced.

Update: I did find an ad introducing these in a 1959 Hardware Age, and saw them listed in a 1961 catalog index on Worthpoint.

Got 2 sets out of last night’s haul, sadly had to throw the really dirty one away because it was more brittle than Bob Barkers back and it was covered in brown paint. Don’t think I did too bad for $4 a piece.

I cleaned up the nicer one and put together 2 full sets with the set I had before and some spares.

I know this is a Vaco thread, but that SK 40999m is an excellent score if you only paid $4! Those go for like $50+ on ebay.

Gotta have some signage....some non tool Vaco stuff I've picked up over the years. Vaco tools all over the place here in Chicago at estate sales. I'll post pics of my vaco tools when I can get them all together.

OK Fanatic, I was digging thru some boxes looking for something else, and I came across my VACO overflow storage. I know I have one or two singles laying around in another box, but here's all the ones I could find for a family pic.
Only have one stubby and 4 longs - plus my 'to work on" group lacks the 9/16, 7/32, and 5/32 drivers. But here's all of them lined up. There's even a DUH two sided screwdriver.

My dad has one of those, that's what I got my inspiration from. Mine was a lot cheaper and has a better handle IMO.

I was looking through my spare nut drivers I came across these 2 1/4 nut drivers. One is marked "S87" instead of the normal "S8" and seems to have a larger handle. The other on doesn't have the "Comfordome" handle, I think I have a long 3/8 that is the same way. If anyone knows whats up with these 2 odd drivers please do share.

Made this punch holder with and electrical ground wire clamp, a 3 inch 3/8-16 bolt and an a spare Nutdriver handle. Turned out pretty good for free, my hands will thank me.

^ first time I've even seen that model! I've got a pair of Vaco-made Indestros, but no "Vaco" product other than some wire strippers, I think.

Second one in a week. Must be doing something right. Not as nice as the first, but not bad either.

I was hanging a couple shop lights today and grabbed my usual small channel locking pliers to adjust chain lengths and noticed they are 8602 vacgruv's. I like them for their size as they fit easily in my pocket and don't slip. Didn't see any in this thread yet so here's a pair. Ed.
