My dad used to sell those. The patch was on one side of a metal cup, the other side had a fiber material that you would light with a match and then the metal cup would vulcanize the patch into the tube. Very good repair 60 years or so ago. Not much use for them now. Those were natural rubber tubes and patches. The rubber made great sling shots that worked really well but that goes back 60 years or so since I have seen natural rubber tubes that stretch like crazy. Now you have to buy a sling shot with surgical rubber tubes to shoot. Instead of the fun of find a tree with a "Y" and making it yourself.

I have a couple of those in the garage that my Dad used to use. Its probably been 40 years since I watched him use one- still remember the smell.

Plus I also saw one today at an estate sale and no the person there didn't know what it was either.

I have one of those and I also have a few of the heater patches for it, although I doubt they would still work because they are old and no doubt have taken on moisture. I have no idea where they are other than they are in the garage . . . .somewhere.

I've used one, just to see if it worked... it did. But I see why they invented cold patches for tubes... what a total PITA for a holed inner tube.
